Is Cricket Being Buried in England?

It was almost as if it was a ghost town at the first test match for the cricket season at The Oval.
Only few supporters were seen in the stands enjoying the game oblivious to the large number of empty seats around them. Is this the end for the English cricket Team?
Is the game being slowly pushed to the grave by other popular sporting activities?
From that sad image, one can only assume that cricket in England is doomed for life. There are a lot of arguments as to the cause of the low turnout of supporters at the match.
The word on the tongues of supporters is “prices.” If you check the streets you will realize that fans are complaining about the high prices for tickets to the games.
In the opinion of the public, time and money can be spent on something cheaper and more enjoyable than watching Test cricket matches at The Oval.
It has also been pointed out that The Oval is not a popular location for cricket matches in contrast to The Lords- the more preferred location.
Money has to be wisely spent in this day and age therefore if the Cricket Council in England wishes to maintain its viewership and support they should start re-thinking the prices of tickets.

Another important factor that should be considered is the competition that cricket faces in light of other sporting activities.
FIFA World Cup has got the British public to their knees.
Everybody in England as well as the wider world is in love with football especially since it is still fresh in their minds from summer.
The discussion of the disappointing match between Germany and England which sent the English team packing for home is still fresh in the coffee shops, in the newspapers and radio programs in the United Kingdom.
If the Cricket Council wishes to gain similar support for the game, extensive media coverage of previous cricket matches should be considered before the actual date of the match.
The second test match was experienced a similarly substandard turnout of supporters at the Edgbaston. The more than 150 million (Euro) that was invested in the development and expansion of the sport facility has surely gone down the drain.
The problem might actually lie in the attractiveness and appeal of the game. In recent times, people are becoming less conservative; therefore a little spice to the game in the form of a live performance by a popular band would not do any harm.
Something must be done to save the name of cricket in England before it is too late.

Take a Drink
When was the last time you went to a party? What’s the farthest you’ve travelled in the last six months? What is the most daring thing that you have done this year? Do you think you have a lot of confessions for the priest next Sunday? I can assume that your answers to these questions are either: never, to work, nothing and no. That is sad!
Don’t you realize what is happening to you? Life is passing you by. You can’t allow that. You must stop it before it is too late. You aren’t a robot. You are still a human being so it’s ok to be a little late sometimes for work or it’s ok to be play hooky sometimes so that you can spend extra time snuggling up with your partner. Whatever it is that you have to do to take your mind of your work load, you should do it every once in awhile. You will be amazed how younger you will look. Not that I am saying that you look old but it’s the least you can do as a reward for your hard work.

You only have one life to live so live it. It is ok to get carried away sometimes. Pay for a trip to an exotic island for the weekend. Haven’t you realized that persons who are buried in their job and have no social life are usually grumpy and miserable? Am I describing your character traits?  Live a little or a lot. You spent 3-4 years perfecting your skill in university, you are an expert now so don’t worry. One late night at the club won’t kill you. Money is not all. It will vanish away. You are fooling yourself if you believe that you can enjoy yourself when you retire. I’m not being pessimistic but not everyone lives until then so make adequate use of the time you have now.
Regardless of your profession you should still have time for friends and family. Don’t allow them to feel neglected. They were there before you had all those qualifications and that job. Don’t allow your job to push them aside. Life is unpredictable; you never know what the future holds so don’t take them for granted. Cook a huge Christmas dinner one year and invite them all over. Bring back the light in your life.

John Mitchell is Dead

His name will forever resonate in the minds of the numerous fans of the television series- “Being Human.” Mitchell’s dead was definitely a jaw- dropper and has left the millions of fans in awe. Being Human is a British supernatural Television drama series produced by Matthew Bouch and broadcasted on BBC Three. A nail biting and heart throbbing TV series mournfully ends with the unexpected death of the star- John Mitchell.  The TV series boasts a cast of adept actors such as Guy Flanagan who plays Mitchell- the vampire, Andrea Riseborough who played Annie the ghost, Russel Tovey who played George- the werewolf, Adrian Lester who played Herrick- the vampire leader and other supporting actors.

Being Human which is mostly popularly viewed on the BBC iplayer explores the story of the vampire, the werewolf and the ghost who share accommodations and try their best at living normal human lives. In the final episode of the TV series, George takes the live of his fellow house mate, John Mitchell. This act was truly shocking for supporters.
Mitchell who was Irish by birth was loved by his fans for his resilience and perseverance in the series. Although he encountered repeated failures of staying blood- free, Mitchell pursue the goal up to Episode 2 of series 3. In that season he was known as the “ King” of the vampire group in Bristol since he had taken up the task to rehabilitate his fellow blood- sucking colleagues to normal human beings. He was most often times challenged by his eldest recruit-Ivan who could not give up the passion.
Mitchell as seen in the series had predicted his death and had to trot cautiously out of the hands of the enemy. A very warm- hearted character, vampire Mitchell tries to prevent his Ghost girlfriend- Annie from ever worrying about the dangers he is faced with. Nevertheless in one of the latest episodes she finds out about the secret of the Tunnel Massacre that her boyfriend tries to hide from her and cries hysterically.
A good vampire, as ironic as it sounds, John Mitchell had come to the realization of his fate among the community of mythical creatures. He was left with no other choice than to instruct George to take his life to avoid any further damage. George last words to the heroic vampire were, “I’m doing this because I love you.”
